How come the GPAA never comes close to the Bay area? With over 5 million people  and a number of county fair grounds if should be feasible.

The ICMJ event is an easy car-pool from the Bay Area too. I don't think I missed any of them,  and they get better every year!

This just in from GPAA

THE HANDS ON PROSPECTING EXPERIENCE

All new for 2014 is the Hands on Prospecting Experience. By purchasing a bucket of concentrates, you’ll be able to work directly with manufacturers where you will process the material in your bucket all the way down to a vial of clean gold. There is no better way to try out some of the most effective clean up devices in the prospecting community, and the knowledge you’ll receive from some of the industry leaders is something you’ll never want to forget. Pre order your bucket during the pre registration process to ensure a spot during the expo of your choice. Quantities are limited so you must act now.

The Show starts tomorrow in Sonora, and not a new PEEP of it here since 1-10-14    Did I miss something?  Is the info only posted on the new web site? No car pooling to go from the Bay Area? What is going on?

From an e-mail...from GPAA  Did everyone get this last week?

I would like to personally invite you to come out and join the GPAA for our Delta Gold Diggers chapter hosted Gold and Outdoor Festival at the Mother Lode Fair Grounds in Sonora Ca. Highlights include the Claim Jumper Metal Detecting Hunt, $3,000 in buried treasure, $10,000 in door prizes and the chance to win the coveted Alaska Expedition! The Delta Gold Diggers have put forth a great deal of effort in making this the biggest and best Sonora show to date, so come out and show them your support! It is sure to be a great time in a family friendly environment and you'll even have a chance at finding some real gold! Proceeds from the major prize raffle will go to Public Lands for the People, a non-profit land rights group that promotes keeping public lands open for mining and other outdoor activities. So come out and join us for a good cause and a good time, we look forward to seeing you all there!

Sincerely,

Aley Aragon

Chapters Coordinator - GPAA

P.S. Be sure to check out our Pod Cast about the Gold and Outdoor Festival by clicking HERE!

P.P.S. If a trip to the Motherlode next weekend just isn't in the cards, fear not and keep an eye out for these emails. We'll be in a town near you shortly... Abilene, Texas and Oklahoma City are coming up soon!!!

Pucky: It would appear that over the last few years, information about, or from the club, has become a widely held secret.

If you don't go to meetings, then you're S41T 0ut of luck.

Nobody else complains about it, so nothing is ever going to change.

Rich68: Why should Members have to complain to get the Service expected from the Chapter? The Minutes of the Meetings should be made available to the Members maybe Ya think?  To be perfectly frank and honest, the status of THIS Chapter now sucks the big one!  Look what The DGD's are doing! Look back at what WE used to do! I have hundreds of pictures and hours of video showing folks learning, and having fun doing so...I am so sad...

Pardon me while I go and throw up again....:(

Hi Pucky, The club communicated the DGD Gold Show to everyone during the club meetings and we had DGD members at our meetings also who gave us Flyers which we posted were we could to promote the Gold Show. Yes, the club is transitioning to the new web site and some information has not been posted on both websites. All of the board members including myself having been working at our regular jobs 6 to 7 days a week for the last few months and have been trying to keep the websites up to date as best as Dale can! As you know all Board Members are volunteers and we are trying to do there best inform everyone on everything as much as they can. There are going to be a lot of Board positions coming open the year and that gives room for change, which I see Richard is looking for! I believe Richard should throw his hat in for the Communications Board Member position this coming year, he would do a great job in that position knowing what should be and when the communications should be posted. I volunteered and helped the DGD club at the Gold Show on Saturday but I must have missed seeing you both there, hopefully you guys will come to the club meeting coming up in two weeks or stop by at the Board meeting this coming Wednesday that would be great to see you there!

Gary

I will not be putting my hat in the ring for anything.

Basically I have GIVEN UP on this club, just like most of the other original members.

I don't have the time, energy, or desire to help a club where even the members don't care what is going on, let alone the board members.

RIP East Bay Prospectors.

Wow...

Wholeheartedly, Rich I wish you the best in your future endeavors and if you ever have some time in your busy schedule, we'll catch each other down the stream again. But I guess you won't see this post since you don't have time or the energy to respond to an alluded dying club.

Pucky, I see you got the email from the GPAA and Delta Gold Diggers blasts and somehow I too missed seeing you up in Sonora. Maybe I was outside assisting with security in the 85+ degree weather Saturday and Sunday volunteering my time to help another club.

Feel free to call me out on something, however, I have done a lot and (from my wife's position) too much for this club.  I've sacrificed time away from my wife, time and money on gas driving up to Concord twice a month (100 miles round trip I might add), time and money for trips to county recorders offices for BLM and claim paperwork, time for minutes, time and out-of-pocket expenses on going to Chapter Summits/Rendezvous and countless other tasks. What for you ask... the growth and betterment of THIS CLUB. But I guess to you, I don't care. I also have a life outside of this club too, and somehow I'm able to mash that in as well in addition to a job which demands 65+ hours a week. So if things tend to slip now and then, well then I guess sorry for not meeting the perceived high standards.

Pucky and Rich, you too should know the sacrifices as you both have made them yourselves.  Pucky you founded this club on your own dime for a while and not to mention the time put forth in doing so.   Rich, you were Store Keeper until you resigned.   You have also have graciously offered the club the sale of claims and have hosted on your own private claim.     I will not trivialize or minimize what you two have done in the past, however to say the board does not care is frankly wrong and disapponting.  I have met some fantastic people in our club and it truly is disappointing you two undermine (pun intended) the club's efforts, admittedly at times not always perfect.

I won't speak for other officers and boards members sacrifices as that is not my place.

What I've learned:

- Communication needs to improve

- We can't please everyone

- An officer position is truly a thankless job

- A volunteer board is as only good as the volunteers who step up to the plate and swing.

If this post is out of line, well then Dale can nuke it.

None of these posts are out of line as far as I can see. Open dialog is healthy. Rich has a place in his heart for the Chapter as I do. Patience wears thin when progress stops...The Chapter seems to have slowed to a crawl when less than 10 showing for a Outing...No decent communication...

"Come to a meeting, or be left out" seems to be the battle cry!

I had a major medical event mid August 2009, and have had 3 major surgeries since! Each day has been a challenge. I damn near died last May, and spent over a month in the Hospital; am not over that yet..But yet, I care an aweful lot, and hope to someday get back to help the Chapter function and grow. I resigned being a GPAA State Director when I could no longer do the job well.

I am dissapointed that I was not able to attend the Gold Show...It would of been wonderful to see many old friends going back over 20 years! But I could not go, and I have missed many other "Events" due to my medical situation. The ones I have attended, were somewhat fun, and I thank those who helped make it that way. A few almost ended in tragety for me and others. I don't need that...Enough for now..Any comments?
