I spent several hours last night doing some searching around on the internet, and I found a disturbing letter from the DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE to the California State Legislature.

I have posted a link to the document at the bottom, and it basically oulines their strategy and desire to KILL dredging in California. Which means they are now putting their full effort into getting rid of it FOREVER.

They have contacted the following agencies under the guise of asking for their input on how to 'regulate' the use of dredge mining, but all of their responses seem more geared towards saying " We need to ELIMINATE DREDGING, and this is how we should do it ". (Their response letters are posted in the 2nd half of the pdf document.)

  • Department of Public Health
  • State Lands Commission
  • Department of Toxic Substances Control
  • Native American Heritage Commission, and
  • State Water Resources Control Board

IF the court cases in San Bernardino ever get settled (haha), and by some miracle the judge didn't get 'bought' out by some lobby firm or strong-armed by some large corporation, and 'we' actually win the right to dredge again, the Anti-mining factions are NEVER going to give up until dredging in gone. Period.

And this letter proves that they are planning to come at it from every possible direction they can.

I think the entire state's political leadership is corrupt, and once a precedent has been set (using mining) to get people out of the river (or forest, or ?), there is NOTHING to stop them from using that precedent to stop FISHING, BOATING, RIVER RAFTING, SCUBA DIVING, OR EVEN SWIMMING.  Because anybody (or any other kind of animal) setting foot in a waterway cannot help but disturb or alter it in some kind of way (even if on a microscopic level).

Here is the link to the letter:

CDFW Report to the Legislature April 2013 - State of California

NOW IS THE TIME TO REMOVE ALL OF OUR STATE REPRESENTATIVES, AND SHOW THEM WE ARE IN CONTROL. Once we flush the 'toilet' a few times, they will learn that they work for us, and that they don't "go to work, in order to control us".

Oh yeah, by the way, I hope you are celebrating your freedoms today. Cause next year I can guarantee you will have less of them.

You can help by Donating...

Dear East Bay Prospectors,

We will be giving away 3 ounces of my personal gold nuggets

this Saturday evening to 25 lucky drawing winners. This is

a fund-raiser to replenish our legal defense fund in support

of small-scale gold mining in America.  You can find more

details about the contest right here:

http://www.goldgold.com/dave-macks-gold-nuggets.html

Our legal expenses have been very high this past month as we

have successfully defended underwater suction mining in

California. I am concerned that we are not getting enough

participation to keep up with mounting legal costs.

Therefore, as an added incentive, if we receive 100 more

contributions from you guys between now and this Saturday

at 12:00 noon (13 July), my mining partner, Rich Krimm, and

I are willing to commit 3 ounces of the incredible gold we

are recovering right now to the next legal fund-raiser --

which will begin next week!

This is a substantial sacrifice. See for yourself what we

will be giving up. Here is an image of what we are mining:

http://www.goldgold.com/daves-gold-july-2013.html

Desperate circumstances require desperate measures.  We must

get these legal bills paid!

You guys have never let us down before.  I'm hoping you will

also come through this time.

Please call our office at 530 493-2012 or go to the first

address above.

Thanks for whatever you can do!

Rich,

have you looked into any of the Regional Water Quality Control Boards permits for discharges, such as a power sluice?

thanks, sourdough joe

Wow what at tangled mess, It looks like motorized stream or river mining that creates any kind of suspension of silt and debris is under fire. Noise and nuisance are another issue, and the potential desecration of Native American sites is another. Thank you for posting this Rich.

Joe, I haven't.

It doesn't look like I'll be doing much mining this year, so it's not really on my radar.

In my book, prospecting is looking for where the gold is, and mining is getting it out once you've found a good spot. (Whether it's a pan, or a sluice, or a highbanker, or a ?, I call it mining when I work a spot longer than a bucket's worth)

I've only been out 3 times in the last 6 months. And I will be lucky if I can double that number in the remaining part of the year.

Have a good time at the outing. Should be pretty good for water level/flow and temperature.

My Rover started overheating tonight, will try to fix and check any other potential problems in time for this weekend. Thank God my Dad taught me his heavy equipment repair skills (Tanks U.S. Army.)

I just signed the petition "California Governor: End the ban on suction dredging for gold in California." on Change.org.

It's important. Will you sign it too? Here's the link:

Thanks!
