About Me

Been a wannabe prospector for 25+ years after being hooked during a Jeep Jamboree trip in 1984 yet have only tried a few times since on camping outings etc. due to life obligations. I have more time to make a serious effort now and am glad to find a local group for guidance on where to go a looking.

About Me

We moved to California from Pennsylvania in 1980.  I always admired the western life and think it would be fun to try to find some gold like the old prospectors did!

About Me

Retired carpenter, Oct 2009, needed a new hobby so I bought a gold pan and started reading online, I practiced at home with some small pieces of lead that I painted gold and mixed with sand and gravel.  I have been to the Bear and American Rivers a few times and found a little color using a pan only. I just bought a Keene sluice box and I am waiting for the weather so I can get out and learn how to use it. I also found a used Desert Fox on Craigslist and have been learning to process concentrates with that.

Once I got it set correctly it works great.

About Me

Hello Folks!

My name is Douglas Jan Junghans, Please call me PUCKY;  I was born in Wisconsin in1951. I am the ninth of 11 children. I move to California in 1991 and joined the GPAA ; I met Terri Markey in 1994.  We Joined The LDMA in the fall at  an Italian Bar common dig. I used to go to Italian Bar (a LDMA patented claim near Columbia, CA) quite often; The changes to the management and new rules and charges/fees have slowed my visits down. I urge you to visit the Camp and check it out, as GPAA Members have a free 3 day Pass waiting at the Main Office for the asking.  I have 2 Gold Claims on Rose Creek, 3 1/2 miles past I-Bar! I love to dredge!! But I can't because of the laws we are forced to follow. California really sucks now that the EPA and the enviro-wacko's have their way!  In late 2008, I contacted the GPAA Office inquiring about starting a Chapter in the East Bay. Gold Pan California (Prospecting Supply Store in Concord) offered to let us use their store as a meeting place. I filled out the paper work and got some locals involved, and with the help of the GPAA New Chapter Meeting Mailer, we started the East Bay Prospectors! March of 2009 we were officially founded. I was elected the first President (2 years) I was blessed with folks wanting to help and lend a hand with the Club. With that help, we have one of the finest GPAA Chapters in the World. Feel free to message me at any time, calling me during business hours is greatly appreciated.

About Me
It has been a number of years that I have opened the web site, due to my own illness and death in the family. I have relocated from Arcadia to the high desert (Apple Valley, Ca.)around the Mojave Desert is my new playground and this is where I will explore for now. Its been a few years that I made a trip up the Sacramento area to visit with family and to play and work the northern rivers. Curently doing some hard rock recovery (dry washing and metal detecting). Besides gold recovery, I have been finding some gems and minerals, a whole other relm of prospecting. But theres nothing like the old yeller stuff.
How long have you been prospecting?
Been playing in the dirt most of my life thanks to my father. Have a lot of the recovery tools and also lost quit a few along the journy. The past ten years have been off and on, but this is where the heart is.

About Me

I have been living here in Alaska 51 years. Came here in 1964, shortly after the Big Earthquake. I started in Anchorage, Alaska, moved to Fairbanks, Alasks, then moved to North Pole, Alaska in 1972. I have prospected on and off for years with my partner Erv Brakefield, of Delta Junction, Alaska.

I am a former City Manager of North Pole and former Chief of Police in North Pole. I have held too many positions since coming to Alaska to mention.

I am a licensed Stationary Enjineer in Massachusettes, California and Alaska. I worked oil pipeline construction from the beginning until completion.

How long have you been prospecting?

Erv and I prospected many places in Alaska. I stopped prospecting when my Partner Erv passed away.

I willsoon be 85 and do not prospect any more. I am looking for information on when I joined the AMRA Pioneer Club. At the time I had contributed $100.00 and my membership card was signed Hal??? Can you help me?? Thank You

About Me

My father look us gold panning many times when I was growing up. I have always wanted to get back into it. Now, at 41, I got myself some pans, a sluise box, picks and stuff. I just went to the Bear River last weekend, and found some flakes.

I was planning on going back to the Bear River this weekend. I found your group on line, and I see that you are planning a trip up there this weekend. Wow. Perfect timing??

I live in San Mateo. I am an owner of a, now, 1 man glass shop. (Used to be 5 of us total, but economy took a dive). Trying to find people to do some prospecting with.
