About Me
Hello Folks! My name is Douglas Jan Junghans, Please call me PUCKY; I was born in Wisconsin in1951. I am the ninth of 11 children. I move to California in 1991 and joined the GPAA ; I met Terri Markey in 1994. We Joined The LDMA in the fall at an Italian Bar common dig. I used to go to Italian Bar (a LDMA patented claim near Columbia, CA) quite often; The changes to the management and new rules and charges/fees have slowed my visits down. I urge you to visit the Camp and check it out, as GPAA Members have a free 3 day Pass waiting at the Main Office for the asking. I have 2 Gold Claims on Rose Creek, 3 1/2 miles past I-Bar! I love to dredge!! But I can't because of the laws we are forced to follow. California really sucks now that the EPA and the enviro-wacko's have their way! In late 2008, I contacted the GPAA Office inquiring about starting a Chapter in the East Bay. Gold Pan California (Prospecting Supply Store in Concord) offered to let us use their store as a meeting place. I filled out the paper work and got some locals involved, and with the help of the GPAA New Chapter Meeting Mailer, we started the East Bay Prospectors! March of 2009 we were officially founded. I was elected the first President (2 years) I was blessed with folks wanting to help and lend a hand with the Club. With that help, we have one of the finest GPAA Chapters in the World. Feel free to message me at any time, calling me during business hours is greatly appreciated. Post a CommentOops! The words you entered did not match the given text. Please try again. 108 Comments
I almost have the new dredge frame complete. I am adding two dead man poles and a catch pan under the motor to keep any oil or gas from dropping into the water. I need to schedle a test voyage to check the running balance. Got any areas close by in mind that I might be able to test the balance of the unit with running water?
Thanks Pucky. I'll be going to the meeting on June 7th if you're there. It'll be nice to meet you.

Got back to Oregon ok, am still unpacking, but just wanted to say THANKS PUCKY for a great outing ! Had a great time, met some good folks, and loved working on Silver creek and the other claims. I look forward to seeing you all again sometime...
Had the oppurtunity back in the 80's to join, but never did. That was when I lived in Amador County. I'm actually living in Lassen County now, where I can the the Nevada border to the east and do my shopping in Reno (35 miles away). Yup, I shop in California's smoking section.
