Hi Renae,

I think Dale or Joe said there was directions to the area! What you mentioned is probably it, just check it out. Ok, to get to the sand bar where everyone pans, you park near the ranger office, walk down the path past the covered bridge and up the hill. You can see the restrooms when you get to the top of the hill. just past the restrooms the trail splits. The trail to the right going down the hill with steps made out of rail road ties is the trail you want to take. When you get down to the river there will be one spot there with a little shore, keep walking past that for another 50 yards and you go over a little rock area and there will be a sand bar. Thats where everyone pans for gold. Its best to get material between the big rock and the bank. You should end up getting 1 to 2 flakes of gold per pan out.
